Ensamble Studio – Hemeroscopium House

Antón Garcia-Abril, of Ensamble Studio, explains Hemeroscopium House on the program Euromaxx for German public television.

Gravity defines spaces and forces in the structural elements that form the space, which are hung in a permanent equilibrium. Hemeroscopium House, in Madrid, is a sequence of 7 structural elements united between them in a balance with nature and its forces, mainly simple supports.

The process of calculating the structure lasted more than a year, while the actual construction was achieved in only 7 days thanks to the use of prefabricated elements. Each bedroom has been designed so as to have natural light, opening to a patio and the central swimming poor, which is conceived as a central element to the design. A second swimming pool is located on the U-beam on the ground floor, with the length of an Olympic pool.
